Meet Purnima Das Verma popular actress of 1940s

Purnima Das Verma was one such presence — an actress who entered films amidst an era when the industry was still defining its identity and went on to build a memorable career that stretched across decades.
Purnima Das Verma was a popular in Hindi films from the late 1940s to the 1950s. She was already acting in films amidst her teenage years. She was a character artist in the
veteran filmmaker Prakash Mehra directorial “Zanjeer” featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri (later Jaya Bachchan).

However, some sources mention that she faced severe financial difficulties later in life, and in her “second innings,” she continued working to support her family. 

She is well-known as actor Emraan Hashmi’s grandmother and aunt of director Mahesh Bhatt. 
She was privileged to have shared screen space Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, and Amitabh Bachchan.
