AAP Dy. Leader and six AAP Rajya Sabha MOs

It’s a set back for the Aam Admi Party (AAP).
In a new development Raghav Chadha Deputy Leader of the party and six AAP Rajya Sabha MPs have reportedly quit the party to merge with BJP thus constituting a 2/3rds
majority (7 of 10) to avoid defection laws. Citing a shift in AAP’s principles, Chadha announced the merger alongside MPs including Ashok Mittal, Sandeep Pathak, Harbhajan Singh, and Swati Maliwal.

The move is framed as a merger, not just defections. Raghav Chadha described himself as “the right man in the wrong party” and stated the AAP deviated from its core values.

This follows internal friction and Chadha’s removal as Deputy Leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha.
