Theatre and film actress Swaroop Sampat stages a comeback to the stage at 67 to share space with veteran actor-turned filmmaker Anupam Kher, also a stage actor in the new musical comedy-drama “Jaane Pehchaane Anjane”. The production, exploring modern relationships, premieres in Delhi from May 22–24, 2026. This marks
a significant, emotional return to theatre for Sampat, who recently cited this as one of her career’s best roles. A

The Gajendra Ahire written-directorial play is embedded with musical score by Anu Malik. “Jaane Pehchaan
Anjane” focuses on love, loneliness, and complex relationships, featuring music and dance, with lyrics by Kausar Munir and choreography by Chirag Aggarwal.
It co-features The supporting cast features Meghna Malik, Maya Sharma, Vikas Rawat, Shraddha Mandale, and Herman De Souza.
Kher, who views theatre as his “first love,” often initiates new projects at the start of a decade, with this play acting as a major comeback for Sampat, who earlier felt film roles did not offer enough depth.
The play follows a successful world premiere in early May 2026, with plans for upcoming international shows.
