PM Modi’s meet with President Droupadi murmu sparks significant speculation

Prime Minister Modi’s meeting with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan has sparked significant speculation over a strategic Union Cabinet reshuffle. This political restructuring directly aligns with the NDA’s legislative and electoral priorities in preparation for upcoming state assembly elections.

The BJP is navigating shifting political equations and working to accommodate defecting MPs from parties like the TMC and Shiv Sena to bolster its parliamentary majority.
The government is actively seeking consensus with regional allies and opposition parties to reintroduce the Delimitation Bill in the upcoming Monsoon Session. After falling short of the required two-thirds majority in previous attempts, building this consensus is a major legislative focus.

The BJP is placing a high priority on expanding its Jat Sikh voter base ahead of the 2027 state assembly polls. The party aims to retain prominent leaders like Ravneet Singh Bittu in the Union Ministry to spearhead this outreach.
The reshuffle buzz intensified following the resignation of Union Minister George Kurian, whose Rajya Sabha term concluded in June.

Observers anticipate that this restructuring will coincide with a much-needed organizational revamp to align the government’s functioning with future electoral challenges.
