Mahim St.Michael’s Church Crosses vandalised Politicians demand action
In a bizzare incident, some miscreants vandalised crosses in the graveyard of St. Michael’s Church, Mahim. This has become a big issue and the Politicians have intervened since the damage done is in a place of worship.
Since this incident comes up immediately following the temporary withdrawal of land acquisition notice to St.Peter’s church, Bandra, the Mahim vandalism raises many doubts.
The damage to the crosses
has fumed the Catholic Community and the Mumbai Police has begun investigation into the matter on priority basis.
It is baffling such incidents happens in a place of worship.
Following the incident, all places of worship apart the Churches, such as Gurudwaras, Mosques and Temples need to be alerted before miscreants attempt to vandalize. Anything can happen anytime. Precautionary measures need to be taken.
Some media reports claimed that the CCTV footage has captured the accused who vandalised the crosses. This will help to track the miscreants.
Clyde Crasto, Nationalist Congress Party Spokesperson while strongly condemning the incident has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and the Mumbai Police to take “immediate cognisance” of the issue.
He further added that the act seems like a deliberate attempt to pressurize and disturb the peace loving Catholic community in Mumbai.
