Subramanian Swamy: Don’t release the killers of Rajiv Gandhi
The Bizzare request of CM of Tamil Nadu M K Stalin to President of India, Mr Ram Nath Kovind, to release the killers of Rajiv Gandhi have been strongly opposed by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy. Writing to the President Ram Nath Kovind, He said the 18 others killed along with Rajiv Gandhi included young police officers whose children were cruelly orphaned.
Mr. Swamy asked the President “to reject the stale and anti national recommendation of the State government of Tamil Nadu” and “to pass appropriate orders that the seven convicts continue to serve sentence for life as was intended when they got a remission from death sentence”.
“I would also suggest that you may consider that henceforth opine that no further applications or recommendations of Government whether at Centre or State level, be allowed for review in this matter and that it be closed once and for all,” said Swami. “Let our nation’s enemies, notably terrorists, be therefore warned that patriotic Indian Governments believe in zero tolerance for terrorists,” he said
Mr. Stalin wrote to the President requesting him to accept the State government’s recommendation in September 2018 and pass orders to remit the life sentences of all the seven convicts. He also urged that S. Nalini, Murugan, Santhan, A.G. Perarivalan, Jayakumar, Robert Payas and P. Ravichandran be released immediately.
