The New Director General of Police in Maharashtra- Mr. Sanjay Pandey, is a destined change for Maharashtra Police. He swears by the rule book, unafraid, exuberant, a cop where the “poorest of poor” can approach him for Justice and he delivers.
Remembering his stint in Bandra as DCP, after the Babri Masjid demolition, Bombay Riots- Hindu-Muslim clashes, where he dealt with tough Politicians like late Madhukar Sarpodar, a firebrand leader from Shiv Sena, Abhiram Singh-BJP, controlled the riots admirably.
Sanjay Pandey as a DCP smashed the backbone of “Moneylenders” who used to harass their victims. The people of Kalina, Vakola, Bandra East, still remember the relief and smile he brought on the faces of “victims” of “money lenders”. Any poor affected person could just walk in, he would get justice.
Sanjay Pandey’s refusal to take unjust orders from superiors and Ministers has been his bane. Always given side posting. When he was in charge of weight and measures, started a campaign against Builders cheating Homebuyers by selling them smaller areas than promised. He was immediately transferred.
After the Parambir Singh episode, His face was most needed to clear the image of Maharashtra Police, how long will he be able to contain himself with politicians in power, is anybody’s guess. But one thing is clear- He will definitely create History before he leaves.

I guess if he remembers me, I am a journalist & Human Rights Activist from Kalina. It was the year 1992, when Mr.Pandey alongwith Addl.Western Zone Mr.A.A. Khan arrested two dreaded gangsters and rought them in Bandra Court after implicating them Under Sections MRTP & MPD. I was a complainant against the gangsters from Police Side.
