After Deonar Slaughter House Shut, makeshift cattle market in Mumbai is gaining popularity ahead of Eid-ul-Azha due to the ongoing restrictions on public movement and business to contain the spread of COvid-19.
Sellers are bringing goats from different parts of country and selling goats in different pockets of Mumbai. Buyers are also happy as they get service of goats nearby their houses.
Pre-pandemic, Deonar was a hub for the sale of goats, sheep and buffalos from across the country. The traders would sell their livestock in the city twice a week to dealers from Mumbai, across Maharashtra and in neighboring states. As many as 25,000 animals were sold each day.
Muslims eat Halal Meat and not Jhatka meat. In ‘jhatka’, an animal is slaughtered in one go, while in the ‘’halal’, it bleeds out after cutting a vein.
