Jitendra Awhad: Diwali Gift for Slum Dwellers, sell SRA houses in 5 years, Pucca houses till 2011, regularize slums built after 2011
Dr Jitendra Awhad Housing Minister said today that MVA Govt has given poor slum dwellers a Diwali Gift. SRA tenements can be sold in five years after expulsion , post-2011 slum holders will get pucca houses for Rs 2.5 lakh, Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray, the cabinet approved the decison taken by Housing Minister , on the decision taken by a committee headed by Jitendra Awhad , that has taken a historic decision and given Diwali Gifts to the slum dwellers. the hut will now be sold in just five years after the expulsion. also, the huts constructed after 2011 will now be protected and for just 2.5 lakh, these slum dwellers will get a rightful home. SRA houses also for tenements built between 200-2011
Six months ago, Dr. jitendra Awhad had suggested at a press conference that huts included in the redevelopment scheme would be allowed to be sold within five years after the eviction. this subject he has presented has become a reality today. The housing minister did not take a decision in this regard. a committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Dr Jitendra Awhad. the committee consisted of Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray, Transport Minister Anil Parab, Minister Nawab Malik, Minister Aslam Sheikh and Minister Varsha Gaikwad were among them.
The committee had taken this decision and given Diwali Gifts to the slum dwellers. earlier, the beneficiaries of the rehabilitation scheme had to wait for ten years to sell the houses after getting them. changing that decision, the slum dwellers have now got the right to sell their huts within five years of the day they have demolished the hut. so, there is a law to pay for the huts already built after 2011 and provide pucca houses. it will now cost only rs 2.5 lakh and get a house. both these decisions have paved the way for the problems of poor slum dwellers to be removed.
