Vande Bharat Metro to replace Mumbai Local Trains
Mumbai local train commuters were happy with the operation of Mumai Metro. Now another good news comes to the fore that Mumbai local trains will soon be replaced with Vande Metro instead.
Vande Bharat Metro is the mini version of India’s first indigenous semi-high-speed train Vande Bharat Express. This train will run amidst cities with a distance of less than 100 kms. This will benefit Jobseekers and students to a very great extent.Moreover, it is learnt that Vande Metro will help in reducing the pressure of crowd on local trains.
Mumbai local trains, which are called the lifeline of Mumbai city, will soon become history.
As per a senior official of Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation -MRVC) the Railway Board has approved the purchase of 238 Vande Bharat Metro trains . This is a major step towards upgrading the suburban railway network.
According to MRVC spokesperson these rakes would be procured under Mumbai Urban Transport Project-III (MUTP-III) and 3A (MUTP-3A) and the purchase will come with maintenance requirements to last for 35 years.
He further added that the work of making these trains will be done under the guidelines of Make India. This project is being run by the Ministry of Railways and the Government of Maharashtra to enhance the capacity of the train network.
Vande Bharat Metro was announced in the budget 2023-24
This train will be ready by December and will run 4-5 times a day on the same route. Like a metro train, it will have 8 coaches. Normal Vande Bharat trains have 16 coaches.
This train will provide rapid shuttle like experience to the passengers. With this, working people and students will be able to travel from one city to another in less time. They will be able to take advantage of world class transport facility.
