Google Pay inks deal with NPCI to expand UPI payments outside India
Google Pay has inked a deal with NPCI to expand UPI payments outside India with a memorandum of understanding (MoU). This will enable Indian travellers to make payments in other countries via Google Pay (also known as GPay), getting rid of the necessity to carry cash or resort to international payment gateways.
In accordance to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) it will facilitate Indian travellers to transfer payments in other countries via Google Pay (also known as GPay), eliminating the need to carry cash or resort to international payment gateways.
Google Pay in a statement has revealed that the MoU has three key objectives. Firstly to widen the use of UPI payments for travellers outside India, facilitating them to conveniently make overseas transactions.
Secondly, as mentioned in the MoU Google will assist in establishing UPI-like digital payment systems in other countries, providing a model for seamless financial transactions.
Lastly, it focuses on easing the process of remittances amidst countries by utilizing the UPI infrastructure, thereby simplifying cross-border financial exchanges.
