Actor Harman Baweja’s Baweja Studios IPO tops priorities with
Netflix’s Scoop
The company is scaling up its two verticals — digital content and animation titles. It also has projects in various stages of development and the majority of the IPO proceeds will be utilised to fund the content development.
For the unversed, Harman Baweja who started his career as an actor close to two decades ago wasn’t that lucky enough to taste much success but, nevertheless, found his calling in the corporate world with Baweja Studios, the firm which is geared up to go public on January 29.
After years of break from acting, Baweja staged comeback with a web series titled Scoop on Netflix in which the audience that had written him off said he had redeemed himself.
For Baweja, acting, however, is no longer the priority and all his focus is now on the public issue and scaling up of Baweja Studios.
And “Scoop” was a one-off case. After the success of Scoop, he hasn’t really locked on anything. He had been working very closely with Hansal Mehta, the director of Scoop on a project. He convinced him to do the part in the web series. Hansal was like, ‘do this for your father’. But Harman focused more on the company. He has worked for several years to come here (at this stage). As per Harman, Baweja, MD, Baweja Studios,
the company has been the priority and continue to be.
By producing films for theatres since 1992, last couple of years, Baweja Studios has expanded its operations to digital content and animation.
Infact, Harman was dating Priyanka Chopra for sometime, but their relationship couldn’t continue. As of now Priyanka is well settled in U.S. with Nick Jonas.
