Former Pak PM Imran Khan’s double sentencing proves debacle for people of Karachi

People in Pakistan’s largest city Karachi expressed debacle over the double-sentencing of former PM Imran Khan in two different cases.

As per Shiza Khan, a resident of Karachi, the judgements against Imran would tarnish the image of Pakistan.

Shaukat Korai, another resident, says after the judgement he had no hope from the upcoming election.“Because of the way one political party is being targeted, the 2024 election will deliver a credible result.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Pakistani court sentenced former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife to 14 years in prison each for corruption, a day after another special court convicted Khan for leaking state secrets and awarded him a 10-year prison sentence.

Khan and his wife are accused of retaining and selling state gifts when the former premier was in power.
