The consecration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya marked a momentous occasion in Indian history, with the installation of Sri Ram’s murti captivating hearts nationwide.

Amidst the grandeur of the ceremony, the eyes of Ram Lalla’s murti stood out, emanating a divine aura that left onlookers spellbound. Behind this masterpiece lies the remarkable journey of sculptor Arun Yogiraj, who undertook the daunting task of bringing India’s civilizational imagination to life.

Yogiraj launched the intricate process of sculpting Ram Lalla’s murti, revealing moments of inspiration and overcoming adversity. Recounting his initial struggle, Yogiraj disclosed how he found himself excluded from the selection process until the eleventh hour.

Regardles setbacks, fate intervened, leading to his eventual selection among the chosen three artisans entrusted with this sacred endeavour.

Yogiraj’s journey was fraught with challenges, from the rejection of his first sculpture due to technical issues with the stone to a harrowing eye injury that sidelined him for days. However, his resilience and unwavering dedication propelled him forward. Reflecting on this tumultuous path, Yogiraj emphasised his commitment to surpassing his previous efforts, driven by a desire to create an idol that resonated deeply with the people of India.

The sculptor’s creative process was infused with spiritual rituals and divine intervention, underscoring the profound significance of his craft. Before sculpting the murti’s eyes, Yogiraj immersed himself in sacred practices, including bathing in the Saryu River and performing prayers at revered sites such as Hanuman Garhi and Kanak Bhawan. With only a brief window of 20 minutes allotted for this crucial task, Yogiraj meticulously crafted the eyes, drawing inspiration from the innocence of Indian children celebrating Deepawali.

Amidst his artistic pursuit, Yogiraj encountered a curious visitor in the form of a monkey, who observed the studio’s work diligently each day. This mysterious presence, reminiscent of Hanuman, added to the mystical ambiance surrounding the creation of Ram Lalla’s murti.

Despite the tribulations he faced, Yogiraj’s unwavering faith and dedication bore fruit as he unveiled an idol that transcended mere craftsmanship, embodying the essence of divinity itself. As he sat in contemplation beside the murti post the Pran Prathishtha, Yogiraj marvelled at its ethereal presence, feeling a profound sense of detachment from his creation.

In the wake of the consecration ceremony, Yogiraj’s journey stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and spiritual devotion. His labour of love has not only left an indelible mark on the sanctum sanctorum of Ram Mandir but also resonates deeply with the soul of a nation steeped in reverence for Sri Ram and the timeless saga of the Ramayana.

Through adversity and inspiration alike, sculptor Arun Yogiraj has etched his name in the annals of history, crafting an idol that transcends the bounds of mortal artistry. As the nation rejoices in the homecoming of Sri Ram, Yogiraj’s tale serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring power of faith and creativity to manifest the divine in the material realm.
