Actor Sharad Kelkar recalls emoting Chhatrapati Maharaj in Tanhaji his ‘biggest accomplishment
Ofttimes the multilayered actor Sharad Kelkar has expressed his admiration for Shivaji Maharaj and spoke on how Shivaji Maharaj played an important role in his life and career as an actor.
He has often highlighted how Shivaji inspired him in various forms.
Upon getting an.opportunity to portray this iconic role, Sharad articulates that it’s a matter of pride for all of us, not merely Maharashtrians.
Shivaji Maharaj established Hindavi Swarajya in India and is a pioneer.
Sharad, the unsung hero who portrayed the iconic role in “Tanhaji” also shares that his eyes couldn’t believe to have been offered the iconic part.
Elaborating on the same, he stated that he had never met or spoken to Om Raut, the director before.
That time around he was out of the country when he called and said that he wanted to meet me.
He then said he wanted me to play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Sharad took two minutes before asking ‘why him?’ and saying that he wants his king to look like this and have a personality like mine.

He requested the Chief Minister of MP then to put a chapter or prescribe separate books in schools so people would get to know about him more.
Sharad`s connect to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj deepened after the film, and the actor felt quite blessed to have been blessed to play this part.
On the work front, Sharad was most recently seen in Rohit Shetty’s Indian Police Force in a cameo role.
