Samajwadi Party nominates Jaya Bachchan for 5th Rajya Sabha term
In a new development, Samajwadi Party has nominated actressJaya Bachchan for the fifth Rajya Sabha term.
However, her nomination has sparked dissatisfaction among party leaders whose primary concern is that she does not fulfil party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s push for PDA. The term was coined by Yadav and stands for “pichre” (backward), Dalit, and “alpashankhak” (minority).
A four-time Rajya Sabha member, Jaya Bachchan, a four-time Rajya Sabha member, figures as a candidate for the election to the Upper House to be held on Tuesday.
