In a most shocking incident, a 33-year-old employee Rohit Kishore Gurbhani who worked as a Registration Assistant (RA) at the Nair Hospital since 2015 committed suicide on Monday May 6 evening. evening.
Originally hailing from Madhya Pradesh he came to the city for work and treatment.
As per police report, the incident happened around 4:30 pm at the Topaz Plaza’s terrace, opposite Wockhardt Hospital in Mumbai Central, within the jurisdiction of Agripada police station.
The building from where Rohit jumped to death also has staff quarters for Nair Hospital employees where he lived for several years.
Locals found his body and alerted the police who rushed him to Nair Hospital where he was declared dead before arrival.
Police officials reveal that Rohit Gurbhani was also a patient of schizophrenia, and was undergoing treatment at the psychiatry ward for the past 8 years, said police officials, adding that he had a history of attempt to suicide due to his mental illness.
A case of accidental death has been registered by the Agripada police. A video of the youth jumping off the terrace later went viral on social media.
