Veteran TV actor Seema Kapoor returned to the acting arena with the TV show Udaadriyaan shot in Chandigarh
Seema underlines that for an actor age is a number and deterrent to her career since she has marked her return to the industry after few years hiatus to look after her ailing father.
Having staged a comeback with the TV show Udaadriyaan, Seema Kapoor reveals that modern content on TV is cliched compared to times when she featured in shows like Kurukshetra, Hasratein, Hum Saath Aath Hai, Bidaai, and Virasat, among several others.
For Seema Kapoor Chandigarh is close to her heart since she lived there once for her graduation and was very active in theatre, and films. She was crowned Miss Fresher and then Miss graduate of her college at the Post Graduate Govt College for Girls, and was titled Miss Chandigarh. She wanted to revive old memories, but her tight schedule didn’t permit her to fulfil my deep desire
Seema was forced to take a break after 35 years of continuous work since her dad was keeping unwell and had been in and out of hospitals. So mentally it wasn’t possible to pick up work then. Age doesn’t matter much as one can go on working with strong roles. It all depends on the sensibility of people who are handling it and are creative enough to carve out the actor’s potential.
She further went on to add that cintent on TV today is cliched with saas-bahu dramas. Amidst her earlie stint on TV, the content was modern and bold. All her shows were major hits and had meaty content. But content has evolved, and TV is also progressing. She is careful on her choices and not all content is saas-bahu.
Since buzz was doing the rounds that she is related to Annu Kapoor, she blatantly made it known that she is not the ex-wife of Om Puri and clarified that once and for all. Their names being the same created much confusion especially on online sites.
Producers, directors and casting people were well aware of her real identity. She is also confused with a cabaret dancer of the 70’s, which upset her
She has a body of work and she wants to work for sure.
Acting is her passion and these issues create conusion for her.
