Mumbaikars to brace for wet weekend- IMD predicts

IMD’s latest update reveal that Mumbai residents can expect generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rainfall, gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph, and thundershowers with lightning across the city and its suburbs over the next 24 hours. The city’s temperature is expected to peak at 32°C, with a minimum of around 28°C.

Reportedly, rains are likely to make another return around the weekend, between August 24-26.

Although they rely on the IMD for their daily weather updates, it’s no secret that the weather department’s forecasts can sometimes miss the mark. And it’s not just them, the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) reportedly too feel the same way.

As per sources, both the central and regional departments of the IMD have been asked to explain the slip-ups in Mumbai’s daily weather forecasts. This request comes after a report by a section of the media claiming the IMD’s rain forecasts for July were 42% inaccurate.
