Kumar Gaurav Rajendra Kumar’s son was engaged to Rima Kapoor
Jubilee Star Rajendra Kumar’s son Kumar Gaurav was once engaged to Rima Kapoor(now Rima Jain) Ranbir Kapoor’s aunt and Raj Kapoor’s daughter.
However, the engagement was short-lived and the couple parted ways within a short span of time. Although several rumours did the rounds hinting at the possible reason behind the split, according to Vijayta Pandit, Kumar Gaurav’s Love Story co-star, she wasn’t the reason they separated.
In a new interview, Vijayta confirmed that she and Kumar Gaurav fell in love amidst the making of Love Story.
Adding further that the bond wasn’t approved by Rajendra Kumar and the father-son duo often clashed over the subject. She also shared that Rajendra wanted Gaurav to get married into a reputed family and thus got him engaged to Rima.
Notwithstanding the engagement, Vijayta claimed Gaurav had promised to marry her.
Vijayta Pandit further went on to reveal that Bunty (Kumar Gaurav) was very fond of her and would keep following me, holding her hands and dancing. He also used to be a very charming boy, however, his father and the film’s producer Rajendra Kumar was very angry over the bond. He would drink alcohol and tell Bunty, he was his prince, and that he should marry a princess. He said he will find his son a girl who belongs to a reputed family. When he used to hear all this,he used to be so scared, but Bunty would retaliate and tell his father that he loves her. They used to drink together and argue; he used to try and get away from this situation.
She also claimed that the veteran actor saw Gaurav ‘head over heels’ for her and decided to get him engaged to Rima. He even attended the ceremony, he saw the huge diamond ring (Rima) she made him wear. She told him it looked so beautiful, and then he got angry said, ‘If you don’t like it, she will throw it away and she ran away thinking he was going crazy… even after the engagement, Bunty would come to visit her at her house, she never went to his home
The actress remembered her parents being ‘upset and scared’. Her father said he will ask Rajendra Kumar to ensure his son does not visit them now that he is engaged to be married. Bunty told his mother he would marry only her regardless his engagement. She told him this was impossible and then he swore that he would marry her.
