Amitabh Bachchan was labelled a flop actor at one point. His career began with the film ‘Saat Hindustani’, which failed to make an impact. He delivered 12 consecutive flops, earning him the tag of a flop hero early in his career.

However, his luck transformed when he was cast in the 1973 film ‘Zanjeer’. It was a role initially rejected by many top actors due to its unconventional portrayal of a hero.

Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Zanjeer’ not only became a blockbuster but also established him as an ‘angry young man’ which began his stardom. We can say that Zanjeer marked a turning point in his career, transforming him from a struggling actor into a superstar.

This man made Amitabh Bachchan angry young man, its not Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar or Prakash Mehra

In an upcoming episode of KBC 16, where Aamir Khan will appear as a guest along with his son Junaid Khan, Amitabh Bachchan narrated a story from his childhood. Recalling his fond memories with mother Teji Bachchan, the supertar said, “One day I came home crying and telling my mother that his friends had beaten him. Seeing me in distress, my mother responded, ‘Go back and come home only after beating them.” She encouraged Amitabh to recognise his own strength and not allow anyone to dominate him. Taking her advice, Amitabh returned, fought with the boys and stood up for himself. After narrating this story, Aamir humorously commented, ‘This was the birth of the ‘Angry Young Man,’ which made Amitabh laugh out loud.

After Zanjeer, Amitabh Bachchan was seen in the Yash Chopra directorial Deewar. It was another action-packed film that falls under the evergreen category. In the Prakash Mehra directorial Muqaddar ka Sikandar, which turned out to be a blockbuster. Amitabh Bachchan continued to work with Prakash Mehra in Laawaris, Khoon Pasina, Hera Pheri, Namak Halaal, Sharaabi and Jaadugar. It was after the release of the Prakash Mehra directorial Zanjeer that he was labelled as ‘Angry Young Man’.
