Shekhar Ravjiani recalls losing voice due to vocal paralysis
Acclaimed singer and composer Shekhar Ravjiani, one-half of the
Popular Vishal-Shekhar duo, recently revealed his encounter with a health condition that caused him to lose his voice. Taking to his Instagram, he expressed his emotional journey.
In an emotional Instagram post, Shekhar Ravjiani revealed losing his voice due to left vocal cord paresis, a condition diagnosed by Dr. Nupur Nerurkar.
Elaborating on this challenging period, Shekhar shared his experience with his followers and wrote, ” Honestly, he was pessimistic… he thought he would never be able to sing again
and explained the plight of his family amidst the stressful time when he was diagnosed with the illness. His family was worried and he was not happy seeing them all stressed out. He just prayed harder and didn’t stop working. Kept trying, kept pushing.
In the middle of this, he had to travel to San Diageo for a few weeks and met Jeremy. He connected him
to an angel. He will
be talking about her in his next slide.
Talking on his doctor and how she helped him recover, he further wrote, “Dr. Erin Walsh- who he couldn’t meet due to Covid.
So he did a Zoom call instead and remembers tears rolling down uncontrollably as he told her that he wanted to be able to sing again.
He begged her to please do something. The first thing that she told him was that she should not blame herself for what happened to his voice.
We spoke at length and she made him feel comfortable and eventually, miraculously, she made him believe that he
could sing, which was the first step.”
“But each time he cried, he croaked, and began to hate the sound of his voice… but, she was unwavered and kept working on his voice and spirit. Her sheer determination, dedication and her positivity made his paralysed left vocal cord come back to normal within a few weeks,” the Ishq Wala Love singer wrote as he talked about his feeling back.
