Deepika Padukone never wanted to be an actress, but a model
Not many may be versed that Deepika Padukone never wanted to step into the acting arena. She started as background dancer.
Model-,turned actress Deepika shot to spotlight with the success of her first film, and, today she is counted as one of the highest-paid stars in the industry.
Before making her debut, she started her career as a background dancer in Himesh Reshamiya’s debut album.
Deepika made her grand debut in South film industry with the film Aishwarya, which failed to perform well at the box office. Initially, at the beginning of her career, she featured as a background dancer in Himesh Reshamiya’s album Aap Kaa Surroor.
Later, she did a successful Hindi film debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om. The film was a blockbuster, earning
Rs 148 crore worldwide.
Deepika was only interested in modelling and the fashion industry. Once in an interview her father Prakash Padukone, former badminton champion recalled
her “interest was towards modelling and she had done a few ads when she was still in school. Initially flms were not anywhere on her mind.
Deepika now charges Rs 5 crore for 50 second and currently, she is one of the most popular and highest-paid actresses. With hits and blockbusters like Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani, Cocktail, Love Aaj Kal, Piku, Cheenai Express, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Pathaan, Jawan and more, her career trajectory has truly been unbeatable.
The actress reportedly charges Rs 20 crore per film and has a whopping net worth of Rs 500 crore.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Deepika was last seen on-screen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, released on November 1, 2024. The actor is said to be on a break from films to look after her recently born daughter, Dua.
