Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway Lands in deep water Norwegians upset on plot
It is saddening that while Rani Mukherji made a comeback with a power-packed emotional drama, and when the movie has just hit the cinema halls ie on
March 17, 2023, and already has been garnering a lot of appreciation for Rani’s mindblowing performance in a gripping emotional plot, it has landed in deep water.
The plot doesn’t seem to have gone down well with the Norwegians. Ironically, the Norwegian Ambassador to India Hans Jacob Frydenlund,
slams Rani Mukerji for projecting cultural differences and further claiming that the film has projected a ‘fictional representation’ and inaccuracies of the actual case.
He further articulated that he
couldn’t sit straight with the film’s portrayal of the story.
So he felt it important to present the official Norwegian perspective and correct factual inaccuracies, that this film unfortunately portrays.
Sans going into further details of this particular case, he categorically denys that feeding with hands and sleeping in the same bed would be the reason for placing children in alternative care. Not in this case and not in any case.
Norwegian women too, feed their children with their own hands and read them bedtime stories, giving examples of his own. Hence It becomes unfathomable for him when he sees a repeat of false narratives and further worries him to imagine that Indian friends will think Norwegians as cold-hearted tyrants, which Norwegians are decidedly not.
The Norwegian ambassador further concluded that he sincerely hopes this movie will not discourage Indians from coming to Norway and that the film will be seen for what it is, and trust in the viewers to understand that this is a fictional representation. For those involved, there is no denying that the experience was traumatic.
Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway stars Rani Mukerji, Anirban Bhattacharya, Neena Gupta, Jim Sarbh, Soumya Mukherjee and others.
