We never know which celebrities might be sitting in the seat behind us or standing next to us in a local train or a metro.
When we imagine what it would be like to live the lifestyle of a celebrity, we probably think of glamorous parties, designer clothes, mansions, and super-expensive and super-fast supercars. We certainly don’t think of an uncomfortable morning commute on a bus, taxi auto, train or a metro.
But on Tuesday 11 April 2023, legendary actress Hema Malini surprised one and all when even not conscious about her status, she took a ride by the Mumbai Metro. She had been to Dahisar in the morning by car but it took her around 2 hours to reach her destination. So to avoid this time factor on her return journey, she opted for the Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro. She was also spotted on the escalator clicking selfie.
There was no bouncer or her Manager with her.She alighted at DN Nagar and from there hired an auto to her JVPD abode. It took her just 30 minutes. Where is 2 hours and 30 minutes.She surprised her security personnel and her staff.
While on the metro she took selfies and mingled with the public freely mindless of her celebrity status. I dont think any celebrity has ever travveled by public transport by auto and taxi. Metro came much later.
Hats off to Hema Malini for having behaved like a commoner.
Whereas it is common in
celebrity hotspots as New York, London and Los Angeles, where public transport is simply the easiest way for everyone to get around – especially when the alternative is sitting in a traffic jam for hours; which can be an annoying and frustrating waste of time even if you are riding in the back of a chauffeur-driven limousine.
Celebrities even seem surprisingly relaxed about taking the New York Subway, the Los Angeles Metro and the London Tube, with few making any effort to disguise their appearance or hide from fans. Which explains why there are so many photos of famous people using public transport around the world. Sometimes, the celebrities even turn the tables, snapping pictures of fans who are trying to sneak a picture of their Hollywood idol riding the train!
But in the Indian Film Industry most of the celebs avoid public transport like local train auto to avoid being mobbed or misbehaved by unruly people.
Hats off to Hema Malini for never being conscious of her celebrity status. How many celebs are there like Hema Malini.
