Saira Banu on Friday joined Instagram on the second death anniversary of hubby Dilip Kumar. She shared a few photos and penned an emotional note in his memory.

Hailing him her ‘Kohinoor‘, she expressed her “gratitude to the overwhelming multitude of caring well-wishers and dearest friends from the world over who so tremendously swept her off her feet till today with their everlasting remembrance, love and respect” for Dilip Kumar.

A part of her note read, “
“This is the day, ‘7th of July’
at ‘7 am’ when time stood still and her loved one slid into a deep slumber. She pleaded with the Almighty that, ‘Sahib’, as she always addressed him should react to one of his favourite couplets.” She shared the couplet in Urdu and its translation as well, which read, “My loved one is in slumber so her entire world is still, she implores him to stir awake so that the world comes alive again with his movement of waking up.

Saira added in the note that she can feel the presence of her Kohinoor with her and said that “no matter what, we will still walk the path of life together, hand in hand, one in our thoughts and being until the end of time.” She called the late actor an “iconic guiding light” for many generations and said that he just wasn’t the “greatest actor ever but also a very great human being.”

Saira also shared a note with a news portal that she is yet to come to terms with the fact that Yusuf Saab is not around anymore because she “can feel him all the time.” She said that the only time she stepped out was in December when a film festival honouring the Hindi Cinema’s thespian’s memory was held in Mumbai. She wrote that she finds it difficult to watch his films and songs on screen, and in particular, she had a hard time watching Devdas as that was the film which made her fall in love with him at the age of 12. “It was with great difficulty and a major effort to sit through Devdas. It was probably the first film that she saw of him and fell in love.

She also wrote that she feels the “emptiness” and breaks down and added, “At the cost of sounding crazy, she has a gut feeling of his presence around her . Having said that, she feels fortunate to spend more than five decades experiencing supreme bliss and spending some unforgettable moments with the person she loved the most.
