Kamal Hasaan disliked Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sholay

If reports are to be believed Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan share screen space in the pan-India film
‘Kalki 2898AD’ earlier titled
‘Project’.

Once over one of his media interaction Kamal had revealed that he disliked the Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Sholay’ released in 1975. The film also featured Dharmendra Jaya Bachchan and Hema Malini in lead roles

For the unversed, Kamal had assisted Ramesh Sippy in his Sholay directorial.

Notedly, Kamal Haasan alongside director Nag Ashwin and actors Prabhas and Rana Daggubati unvieled the teaser of Kalki 2898AD and the title of the film earlier titled ‘Project K’.

Reportedly, Amitabh Bachchan joined the convention virtually. Amidst heaping praises on his co-stars at the event, Kamal asked , What’s so great is the energy that our audience brings to our cinema. We make the movies, they make the stars. And, it is an honour to sit with the audience and watch the likes of Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan.

Interrupting him, Bachchan said, “Stop being so modest, Kamal, you are much, much greater than all of us. This is not a performance you have to put up.

Interestingly, the kind of work Kamal has done is very difficult to achieve. Each one of his films is packed with much reality and effort that he puts in. It is an honour to be in the same film as him.

Kamal further recalled the iconic 1975 film ‘Sholay’ and his feelings for the film. He saw the film and as a technician, he couldn’t sleep that night and that’s the kind of movie…
many such movies Amitabh has done, and to hear him say nice things about his (Kamal’s) films is something Kamal had not imagined when he was an assistant director and watching Sholay on the big screen. He thanked Amitabh.

Meanwhile coming to Kalki, it is Produced by C Aswani Dutt’s Vyjayanthi Movies, and the film is likely to feature Disha Patani and scheduled for a theatrical release on January 12, 2024.
