Dr. Sowmya Swaminathan,

expressed her humble gratitude for her father MS Swaminathan being honoured with Bharat Ratna..
Nevertheless, she admitted that her father MS Swaminathan would have been an happy person had the Bharat Ratna been honoured on him when he was alive.
Dr. Sowmya further adds that her father never waited for recognition or waited for awards.
On behalf of the family, she feels grateful for this posthumous honour and thanks PM Modi for making this to happen even as when her father is in the ‘immortal’ world.
She went on to add that the entire family feel happy that his whole life’s work has been recognised by the highest national award that any citizen of India can get adding further that this recognition by the govt conveys a very strong message to the youth of today that you can use science and technology to benefit society.
