Disney + restricts password sharing
In a new development, Disney Plus gears up to enforce restrictions over password sharing, limiting account access to those within a single household kicking-off September.
CEO Bob Iger confirmed the policy amidst an earnings call, noting the move follows discussions initiated in last September. The crackdown which had already begun in select countries in June will globally expand this fall.
In addition to the password sharing restrictions, plans are afoot by Disney to increase prices for Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN plus in October. Subscribers need to have the option to share the accounts outside their household for an additional fee, though specific pricing details are yet to be revealed.
It remains uncertain if the changes will impact on Disney’s Indian Subsidiary Disney+Hot Star.
