PM Modi will be visiting Mumbai to launch phase 1 of Metro 3 (Aarey-BKC) on Saturday 5 October and to conduct the groundbreaking ceremony for Thane ring Metro and Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA). While safety certification for Metro 3 is pending from the commissioner of Metro rail safety, officials are optimistic it will be obtained well before the Oct 5 event.

However, as per sources the line will commence operations for public from Sunday 6 October.

PM Modi will also attend the Mukhyamantri Mahila Sashaktikaran Abhiyaan in Kasarvadavali, Thane on the same day.

Ahead of the PM’s visit, preparatory meeting was held at Thane municipal HQ Monday with senior officials from the district, civic administration, Maha Metro, MMRDA, PWD and police in attendance.

Apart from Metro 3 inauguration, PM Modi will perform the groundbreaking ceremony for pivotal infrastructure projects, including Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project, which received a revised approval from the state during Monday’s cabinet meeting, and the new Thane municipal headquarters, among others. The final itinerary and project list to be inaugurated will be announced soon, officials said.

Infact the PM’s Prime visit on Oct 5 will be a dream-fulfilling one. A new state-of-the-art township ‘Naina’ is coming up under CIDCO. The long-pending dream of people, Metro 3, too will be launched. As per CM Eknath Shinde, Thane internal Metro and MMRDA’s key infrastructure projects will also be launched.

According to Officials as many as 40,000 people are expected to participate and arrangements have been made for nearly 1,200 vehicles.
