Since assuming office in 2014, PM Modi has made it a point to celebrate Diwali with soldiers stationed across various regions of India.
In recent years, he celebrated Diwali with soldiers in Nowshera, Kashmir in 2021, Kargil, Jammu and Kashmir in 2022, and Lepcha in Himachal in 2023.
In 2014, shortly after the BJP assumed power, PM Modi visited Siachen and told the soldiers posted there that 125 crore Indians can celebrate Diwali and go about their lives because the soldiers stand guard at the border.
He remarked that he was celebrating the festival as a representative of their families back home.
