Sourav Ganguly bats for former Pak Captain and PM

Cricket Legend Sourav Ganguly, former Captain, has strongly backed an international appeal for the fair treatment and proper medical care of jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister and cricket legend, Imran Khan.

On February 17, 2026, Ganguly supported a letter sent by 14 former international captains—including Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, and Greg Chappell to the Pakistan government citing
serious alarm regarding the failing health of the former PM while incarcerated.

The former captain noted that Imran deserves good treatment because he “has taken Pakistan to the world map, first as captain of the Pakistan cricket team and then as Prime Minister.
The appeal followed reports that Imran Khan has lost 85% of the vision in his right eye due to alleged medical neglect in jail.

The signatories of the letter requested that the Pakistani authorities ensure adequate medical attention, improved detention conditions, and family visits for the 73-year-old former cricketer.
