Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has come forward in strong support of the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) show-cause notices issued to Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff.
Spearheaded by FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, the regulatory action targets the actors for the indirect, surrogate promotion of Vimal Pan Masala
a product prohibited in Maharashtra disguised under a Vimal Elaichi campaign.
Khanna praised the regulatory crackdown on misleading surrogate advertising.
The veteran actor asserted that top celebrities bear a social responsibility to model positive behavior rather than promote harmful substitutes.
Khanna urged the three actors to halt their participation immediately and issue a formal, public apology to the public.
The FDA has given the actors 15 days to submit a written explanation, warning of further legal action and penalties for non-compliance.
