Sameer Wankhede: 1.3 crores worth nuggets (Cannabis) drugs , seized from Foreign Post Office- Mumbai
NCB Mumbai in its continuous fight against Drug Suppliers and Peddlers in Mumbai, NCB Mumbai launched an operation at Foreign Post Office, Ballard Estate, Mumbai and seized a 2.2 Kgs of Multi strain Buds @ Cannabis on 08.06.2021.
In the Foreign Post Office at Mumbai, two departments of the Central Government 1] Postal Appraising Section Customs & 2] Mumbai Foreign Post Office function side by side. The role of the Customs Postal Appraising Section Mumbai is to clear consignments that are received through the Postal Channel and are presented by the Mumbai Foreign Post Office (FPO) for Customs clearance 
Mr Wankhede said, “On the basis of reliable information, a team of NCB Mumbai seized 2.2 Kgs of Multi strain buds or Cannabis which was concealed in blue colour carton box mentioning inside “Mountain House 05 day emergency food supply.” The Multi strain buds or Cannabis was kept in 05 silver packets.”
The price of said Multi strain buds or nugget is Rs. 5,000/- to 8,000/- per gram in illicit market. The parcel was originated from Whittier, Canada & destined to be Mumbai.
NCB Mumbai registered the case in Crime No 53/2021. Follow operation is going on to nab the receiver.
Mr Wankhede said, “Cannabis strains are either pure or hybrid varieties of the plant genus Cannabis. Varieties are developed to intensify specific characteristics of the plant, or to differentiate the strain for the purposes of marketing or to make it more effective as a drug. Variety names are typically chosen by their growers, and often reflect properties of the plant such as taste, colour, smell, or the origin of the variety.“
