Sameer Wankhede: NCB arrests Armann Kohli and 8 more, Cocaine has South African origin, Bollywood rattled
NCB Mumbai has undertaken an intensive operation to break the Mephedrone (MD) network and to weed out the MD traffickers/peddlers in Mumbai city since last two days.
Search operations were conducted at many places. This operation has resulted in recovery of commercial quantity of MD from various suppliers and peddlers.
OPS 1: In follow up operation in Cr 73/21 on 26.08.2021 in the morning, a team of NCB Mumbai intercepted one MD peddler namely Abusufiyan Khan from Jogeshwari west and recovered intermediate quantity of MD from him. He is one of the main peddlers of the major supplier in this case. He is a known history sheeter and is a major peddler and consumer of MD and is active in Jogeshwari area.
OPS 2: In another follow up operation in Cr 24/2021, one absconder Gaurav Dixit, an actor by profession was intercepted by NCB Mumbai. The said accused was arrested on 27.08.2021 in relation to recovery of intermediate quantity of Mephedrone, small quantity of Charas and some tablets of MDMA/ Ecstacy tablets from his house in Andheri West on 03.04.2021.He has been remanded to NCB Custody till 30/08/2021 by the Hon Court.
*OPS 3 *:In another operation, a team of NCB Mumbai affected a seizure of total 57.3 grams of MD (commercial quantity) along with small quantity of Charas and Ganja on 26.08.2021 in two operations at Vasai and Nallasopara East and arrested two persons namely Rafiq Mohammed Ali Shaikh and Jonhcen Maka (Nigerian National) and registered Cr 78/2021. Accused Jonhcen Maka is a major MD supplier in Nalla Sopara Area and supplies MD to whole of Mumbai.
OPS 4: In another operation, a team of NCB Mumbai affected a seizure of 52 grams of MD (commercial quantity) on 26.08.2021 at Goregaon West and intercepted one person namely Irfan Ikramuddin Khan and registered Cr 79/2021. The said accused is a history sheeter and is a big peddler active in Goregaon area.
OPS 5: In another operation, a team of NCB Mumbai affected a seizure of 55 grams of MD (commercial quantity) and small quantity of Ganja in the night of 26.08.2021 and early morning of 27.08.2021 at Kharghar and intercepted one Nigerian national namely Kingsley Ukwueza and registered Cr 80/2021. The Nigerian was hold up at Nigerian community kitchen along with around 50 Nigerian nationals who dispersed suddenly at the entry of NCB team. The sudden dispersal led to injury of two NCB officials. The accused Nigerian national is a big MD trafficker/supplier in Navi Mumbai and has international linkages.
OPS 6: In another operation, a team of NCB Mumbai affected a seizure of 65 grams of MD (commercial quantity) on 27.08.2021 at Meera Road and intercepted one namely Riyaaz Iqbal Tandel and registered Cr 81/2021. The accused person is a major peddler in Meera road and surrounding area.
This massive drive by NCB Mumbai is part of its ongoing efforts to clean the Mumbai city from the drug menace.
In accordance with its ongoing zero tolerance policy against drug trafficking in Mumbai, a team of NCB Mumbai conducted a raid in the morning of 28.08.2021 and intercepted one major drug peddler Ajay Raju Singh from near Haji Ali and recovered 25 grams of MD from him. The said accused is a history sheeter as he has been previously involved in a 2018 case of ANC Mumbai wherein huge quantity of Ephedrine was recovered.
A follow up operation was launched in the afternoon of 28.08.2021 based on the preliminary interrogation of the accused Ajay Raju Singh. Based on his revelation, a team of NCB Mumbai raided the house of Arman Kohli in suburban Andheri and recovered small
Quantity of Cocaine drug from him. NCB Mumbai has registered Crime No. 82/21 in this case. Arman Kohli has been arrested u/s 21(a), 27(a), 28, 29, 30, & 35 of NDPS Act and Ajay Raju Singh has been arrested under 22b(a), 27A, 28, 29, 30, & 35 of NDPS Act.
Till now, the investigation has revealed that the case has international linkages as the cocaine seized has South American origin. NCB Mumbai is probing the route and linkages used to bring the seized cocaine to Mumbai and the involvement of other traffickers.
Further investigation is under way.
