Lakshmi Ramakrishnan shares her professional journey and experience in Kollywood

Meet Multi-faceted Lakshmi Ramakrishnan. She is an Actress, director, producer, TV show host. She is one of the outspoken voices in the Tamil film industry.

The actress gets candid when she talks on her next directorial Are You OK Baby, which is her controversial talk show.

Her last directorial, House Owner, was released in 2019, and was well acclaimed and accepted by the cinegoers

Ironically she was left to encounter many personal challenges – health issues for both she and her husband. Then, her younger daughter was affected by COVID and suffered complications for almost a year and a half. However, amidst all these troubles, Lakshmi had reasons to smile as she had a grandson in 2019 and a granddaughter in 2021. It was the most beautiful stage in her life.

She makes it known that there are mixed opinions regarding her show. However, there are many people who trust the show. We have mentored many families through it. We have given educational support and medical aid to families. There are many positive things that we are doing, so I am not bothered about the controversies that came out of it; rather, they have only helped me to evolve.

As per Lakshmi, she needs to narrate an honest story, and she usually doesn’t think more than that. Every film is a reflection of the soul of the filmmaker. She isn’t very excited about packaging her story for commercial purposes, but she does want to crack that. There are many talented people who are able to make great films with commercial value. She pins hopes for the success of this film.

She takes pride in stressing that she is a filmmaker, but at times, doesn’t think that if she had assisted someone for some time, it would have helped her more because she feels that hands on experience is an asset. Secondly, she wished she had a little more patience. The problem with her is that she doesn’t wait for the date of an artiste or a production house.
She starts her work without waiting too much. She goes on to add that If she can convince big artistes and bring them into her projects, then, with better resources, it will help the film commercially, too. Her family asks her to be patient and wait for the artistes, but she doesn’t believe in that, and she really don’t like directors having to go behind an artiste.

Lakshmi also feels the Tamil industry is in the grip of a few people. They decide everything and judge whether a movie will be successful or not. They promote only a few films. That’s a bias that is not healthy for the industry. Every good film must reach an audience. Then, just like the Malayalam film industry, we also can produce a lot of good films. Many movies like Mandela should be made here.

It is a known fact that tamil film industry is controlled by DMK as long as they are in power.
Neverthess it’s the duty of every tamilian to throw this party out in power ad early as possible. DMK is a curse to tamil fraternity. God alone can save tamil Nadu.
