Naval Officers face death on charges of espionage in Doha Qatar BJP Rajya Sabha MP Narasimha Rao ensures support
In the backdrop of the death penalty awarded to Naval officers, the family members of Commodore Sugunakar Pakala
facing the death sentence over espionage charges in Doha and Qatar, have approached BJP Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao for assistance.
Notedý, GVL Narasimha Rao BJP Rajya Sabha MP and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Indian Ambassador to Qatar, Vipul, have ensured to provide all necessary support.
The death sentence was delivered by a “Court of Primary Instance in Qatar” 14 months after the arrest of former Indian naval officers on unsubstantiated charges of espionage.
While revealing the details of the judgment and the further legal process, Narasimha Rao informed that the Court read out a two line order today Saturday 28 October and the full judgment would be available by Sunday.
He went on to add that the judgment can then be appealed in the Court of Appeal within 15 days. After the judgment by the Court of Appeal, there is the highest Court of Cassation in Qatar.
