Shabana Azmi recalls not having children with Javed Akhtar

It has been for over four decades of Veteran writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar and actress Shabana Azmi’s marriage, but no children.
Their journey together hasn’t been entirely sans challenges.
Shabana had revealed in one of her interview that once she realised she couldn’t have kids.

But, she never let it linger over and make her unhappy. She merely packed her bags and carried on from there and was very grateful for many other things that she could do.

In the midst of her recent interview the actress opened up on why their marriage has lasted for so long. Javed Akhtar says the success of their marriage is that they don’t meet too often, they are both busy running in different directions.

Shabana further added that they come from similar backgrounds – their fathers were poets from UP and communists, and have a common view on things, so people say considering these factors they should have had an arranged marriage.

As per Shabana, people tend to simplify the situation and assume that everything is resolved once a decision is made. She added that however, it’s not that simple, especially when children are involved. She emphasised that the process is emotionally draining and extremely painful, and one goes through a very difficult period.

Shabana also revealed that due to the constant criticism and disapproval from society, and many occasions, Javed3 attempted to end their relationship.

She added further on several occasions they did try to break several times because of children but it just didn’t happen. She added that she is good friends with the kids, and Honey is like their family member. She stated that the relationship has worked out well in the end.
