A TV channel shared some old videos of Salim Khan discussing how Amitabh’s life was impacted by those professional setbacks. He said, he isn’t a psychiatrist, so cannot tell what went wrong with Amitabh Bachchan. Salim doesn’t seem to share a close relationship with him at the moment. But, there was a time he did 14-15 films with Amitabh. Sometimes it happens that a person becomes so accustomed to winning that when he loses, he gets shocked.” He went on to cite an example. ‘When Sri Lanka wins a cricket match, people are surprised by their victory. It also seems unexpected if West Indies loses a game’.

Likewise, Amitabh developed such a strong addiction to success that even a small setback or failure affected him deeply, and wasn’t good at handling it.

The video seems to date back to Amitabh’s troubled times in the 1980s or early 1990s. The introduction of VCRs to India in the 1980s as a kind of entertainment technology caused a crisis in the Hindi cinema industry and negatively impacted Amitabh’s popularity.

Amidst the mid-1980s, Amitabh got involved in the purported Bofors scandal, which implicated Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi along with multiple other officials from the governments of India and Sweden. Amitabh on the other hand, has insisted that the controversy was “planted” around him.

Later, once the Bofors scandal faded from the background, Amitabh Bachchan was overwhelmed by debt as his production company, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited, suffered significant losses.

Following the Miss World beauty pageant’s 1996 collapse, the production firm went into debt. Given that he owed creditors over
Rs 100 crore, that was his lowest point. He was saved from dire circumstances by the reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati, a quiz based reality show.

Salim Khan, Salman Khan, and writing partner Javed Akhtar were recently spotted in the streaming documentary “Angry Young Men”. Everyone felt sentimental when it released last month. The renowned writer-duo’s personal and professional life is expertly shot in the documentary series. It also instigated everyone’s curiosity as to why the two, who in the 1970s revolutionised Indian cinema, fell apart.
