Mystery shrouds mysterious death of HDFC Staffer in workplace
In the midst of the ongoing nation-wide debate over workplace pressure following the demise of an Ernst and Young worker of “overwork”, yet another death of a 45-year old
Sadaf Fatima,Additional Deputy Vice-President of Lucknow based out HDFC Bank in workplace under mysterious circumstances comes to light. As per bank reports she fell from her chair and collapsed.
According to Vibhutikhand Assistant Commissioner of Police Radharaman Singh t.he record of observation of her body has been filled, and it has been sent for postmortem and the cause of death will be clear after the postmortem.
As per a Lucknow newspaper report her colleagues claimed that Sadaf was under work pressure.
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav termed the incident “extremely worrying” and a reflection of the country’s current economic stress. He emphasized that this tragedy showcases the need for companies and government departments to reassess their priorities and working conditions.
He posted on X (twitter) that all companies and government departments will have to give a serious thought in this regard. This is an irreparable loss of the country’s human resources. Such sudden deaths bring the working conditions under question.
He went on to add that the real measure of the progress of any country is not the increase in the figures of services or products but how mentally free, healthy and happy a person is.
Earlier Anna Sebastian, of EY’s Pune office who just worked for around four months, died due to work pressure. Her mother Anita Augustine wrote to EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani and flagged the “glorification” of overwork at the consulting firm.
Her father claimed that the 26-year-old raised concerns over work pressure with her seniors.
