The Chief Minister of Maharashtra in presence of other politicians including Home Minister flagged off 10 All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) for Mumbai Police at an inauguration ceremony at Girgaon Chowpatty on Monday afternoon, an Police official said.

According to police official, the All Terrain Vehicles will be used for patrolling of beaches in the city of Mumbai. The petrol engine-powered ATVs are capable of reaching speeds of 50-60 km per hour over sandy surfaces. The ATVs have been donated to Mumbai Police by Reliance Foundation after due approval of the Government of Maharashtra.

These vehicles will be used for patrolling at sea shore well as for some rescue works too, it is a left hand drive vehicle and it will be reach at that place where other vehicles can not reach. Four people inside these vehicle can sit easily, official said.

The following dignitaries were present at the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister, Home Minister, Minister of Tourism and Environment, Guardian Minister of Mumbai City, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Director General of Police Maharashtra State, Commissioner of Police Mumbai, Mayor Mumbai, Administration Head of Reliance Foundation, among others.
