When Govinda lost a steward’s job at Taj-English was the issue

Actor Govinda recalled when he was not selected for a steward job at Taj Hotel because he couldn’t speak English.

Inspite of being a filmmaker’s son, Govinda wasn’t destined to live a luxurious life while growing up. His father, Arun Kumar Ahuja, worked as an actor in many films and later ventured into producing movie. It was at a time when one of his films flopped, and the family had to face hard times.

In the 50s, film producers would invest their own money, mortgage their house and properties to pump money into film production. Govinda’s Sadly after residing in the queen of suburbs, and home to filmcelebs, Bandra, his father had to shift to Virar since he lost everything and that was the time when Govinda was born.

In an earlier interview, the actor revealed that before making it as an actor, he had a rather modest upbringing and was applying for regular 9-5 jobs.

Later, amidst his chat with Simi Grewal in the late 1990s, Govinda recalled that he was once rejected by Taj when he applied for a steward job. When Simi asked him about it, Govinda mentioned that English was the issue as he couldn’t speak the language. They also said he wasn’t confident. How will he even talk? Amid the same chat Govinda, articulated that after his graduation in commerce, he went from one office to the other for a job but couldn’t get a stable job.

Finally, he made it big as an actor and in another interview, the actor shared that at one point, he had so much money that he didn’t know what to do with it. In another chat show, on the chat show, Govinda’s brother Kirti shared, that one day he locked the room in which they were put up and presented all his money, all his bank documents. Govinda turned speechless and happiness knew no bounds for him seeing the wealth put before him and had to figure out what to do with the money. His first idea was, ‘Pappu, let’s buy 100 auto rickshaws’. He told him this wasn’t our kind of business… Some time later, Govinda emerged as a star. Govinda, who was sitting next to Kirti, laughed at the memory, and said that his brother always had the same response to his ideas.

Govinda has not appeared in any films the 2019 release of Rangeela Raja.
