Hurriyat Conference chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urged
Prime Minister Narendra Modi to use his tenure to revive peace talks, stating that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only reliable instruments for resolving disputes between India and Pakistan.

Speaking at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, the Mirwaiz highlighted PM Modi’s status as one of the longest-serving leaders in independent India. He noted that early in his tenure, Modi expressed an interest in regional cooperation which generated hope across South Asia. He further emphasized that ongoing engagement drawing parallels to past talks with former Prime Ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Dr. Manmohan Singh is crucial for reducing mistrust and humanizing opposing perspectives.
