Administrator May Be Appointed To Oversee Mumbai’s Guru Nanak Dev Hospital
Will they ever bury their differences or will the Govt Of Maharashtra be forced to appoint an Administrator over and above? The Trust that runs the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Mumbai? Once considered the pride of Sikhs (and in fact Mumbai) the petty squabbles among office bearers and the three main lobbies have taken their toll on the hospital administration.
Whereas Chairman of the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital and Trust Sarabjeet Singh and his people point an accusing finger at the Manhas Brothers (namely Bhupinder Singh Manhas and Amarjeet Singh Manhas) for the manner in which the Chairman’s powers and therefore his competence are being sought to be emasculated sources close to the Manhas Brothers say “nothing illegal can be allowed to be done in the name of so-called efficiency which in fact is just another name for personal gain”
A major case in point is that of a Trustee by the name of Iqbal Singh Matharu and the fact that he has accused a lobby of other Trustees led by Bhupinder Singh Minhas of deliberately withholding payments due to him for civil work undertaken by his firm to the tune of over ₹ 4.5 crore
Matharu claims he received only around ₹1.4 crores and approximately ₹3.7 crores were still pending which has been fraudulently withheld
(in frame L to R : Bhupinder Manhas, Amarjit Manhas)
So much so that Matharu filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing over the same!
Now this is where it gets more complicated
A letter signed by both Matharu and his son that states he has received the full amount due to him and there are no further dues remaining is in possession of Nation Now
Matharu has claimed earlier that his signature was a forgery
Matharu further alleges that Minhas has got ₹8 crores from the hospital for work which cost only ₹ 70 odd lakhs
Matharu has filed a complaint with the EOW on the same
The EOW seems not to have moved on Matharu’s complaint at all.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Trust Sarabjit Singh has filed a case with the Charity Commissioner asking for action to be taken against Bhupinder Singh Minhas and others (Bhupinder Singh Minhas is the cousin brother of Mumbai Congress leader Amarjeet Singh Minhas)
Here the whole thing gets even murkier
In what is probably a first in the history of cases filed before the Charity Commissioner a sitting Chairman has made his own Trust (said Trust being the Guru Nanak Dev Quin Centenary Hospital & Trust) a respondent in a case filed by him!
An insider at the Trust told Nation Now “there is every possibility that an Administrator will be appointee to run the Hospital and a full-scale investigation will be carried out”
Even as Trustees Of the Hospital trade charges against each other Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had asked his Principal Secretary to see whether or not a full-fledged investigation should be ordered into the matter of the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital and Charitable Trust
It is now learned that the said full-scale investigation is due to be launched in a matter of weeks
