Typical Mumbai rains of three digit have been missing. However in the month of July on the first day the commercial capital of India recorded three digit rainfall.

After more than a fortnight, Mumbai has once again recorded 120 mm of rains, Colaba saw 108 mm of rain.

Mumbai experienced heavy rains on Monday and Tuesday and activity is expected to remain on the higher side. T

As per IMD orange alert has been issued for Mumbai for Wednesday and Thursday and are set to increase even further with the peak intensity being on Thursday. Moreover, three digit rains are possible on Wednesday and Thursday

In fact, there are possibilities of waterlogging, inundation, traffic chaos and reportedly some rail as well as air traffic chaos as well, resulting in some delays due to intense rains. Office commuters may also experience inconvenience due to commutation issues.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to the activation of the offshore trough. Along with this, the low pressure area is also in the central region which has resulted in a lot of convergence in proximity of Mumbai which will further course and enhancement in the rainfall activity.

So far, Mumbai has already recorded 756 mm of rainfall against the July average of 919 mm which means that there is a possibility that the city may surpass the monthly rainfall in the next couple of days itself.
