PM Modi’s visit to Poland and Ukraine comes weeks following his Russia trip, where he held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin
On landing in Poland, PM Modi was received by Former Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
At the joint press briefing,
PM Modi and Tusk announced India-Poland having upgraded the bilateral relationship to Strategic Partnership.
As per Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, India will play constructive role.
In the midst of his press briefing while lauding the India-Poland ties, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that India will play a crucial role in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict. That today, they have decided to take their relations to the level of strategic partnership. This is merely not a definition, not mere words. There is their resolution for mutual cooperation in various areas behind this. They began with a clarification on issues that are very emotional.
PM Modi confirmed his willingness for a peaceful, rightful and immediate end to war as he believes India can play an essential and very constructive role. So, this announcement is very important. Tusk went on to add that PM, in 10 hours will visit Ukraine as they believe that his (PM Modi’s).visit to Ukraine will be historic.
Whereas addressing the joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk,
PM Modi also acknowledged the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
PM Modi on Thursday furthered that the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia are a matter of deep concern for all of them and it is India’s firm belief that no problem can be solved on the battlefield.
Today after 45 years, an Indian Prime Minister has visited Poland,” PM Modi said in the joint press conference held on Thursday.
Adding that he got this opportunity at the beginning of his third term and wants to thank the government and the people of Poland for this. People of India can never forget the help Polish Government have extended in rescuing Indian students amidst the Ukraine conflict in 2022.
After bilateral talks, PM Modi and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk held a delegation-level meeting, pledging to bolster India-Poland ties. Earlier today, PM Modi has said that partnership amid the two nations are strengthening in areas of new technology and clean energy.
