DCP Narcotics Datta Nalawade: 7900 bottles of corex cough syrup (codeine phosphate) seized

Mumbai Police DCP Narcotics Datta Nalawade informed that Rs 24 lakhs worth , 7900 bottles of corex cough syrup (codeine phosphate) seized from two locations Mankhurd , Mumbai and Virar-Palghar one person has been arrested, NDPS sections of 8 (k) and 22 (k) have been imposed and case CR/83/2021 has been registered. The arrest was affected by the ANC Anti Narcotics Cell- Ghatkopar unit.

The accused Mukesh Rajaram Choudhary has been a habitual offender and has case registered against him earlier in Virar Police Station- 897/18 under various sections of the NDPS act-1985. Consumption of Codeine Phosphate brand name corex syrup increases the Blood Pressure, enhances sleep, Gives you a kick and is favorably consumed in the slums of Govandi, Mankhurd and ajoining areas.

Acting on a tip-off, the Ghatkopar Unit of ANC- Anti Narcotics cell visited the spot at Ghatkopar-Mankhurd link Rd and saw the accused selling “codeine phosphate” 100 ml bottles brand name ” Corex syrup. Accused was taken into custody with 200 bottles, further investigations led to gala in Virar, Palghar, wherein total 7900 bottles of “Codeine phosphate syrup ” was seized.

The operation was led by head of ANC- Ghatkopar unit Lata Sutar and assisted by Police Officers Farid Khan, Sachin Palwe, Bhalerao, Ananda Patil and team. Further investigations are on
